GARTSHORE CHARTER

 

As you can see the first part is a copy of the old charter of exgambion to John Gartshore of Gartshore in the reign of Alexander II around 1200. We know Alexander was around about this time probably 1214. This means that the family was around at the time of the late 1100's, an old family indeed.

This part is in Latin, you can make out a few words like Galfrid.

The first part is Latin, "signed in secret", the next English, "and the same on horseback". The next part is about Dumbarton.
