We first find information on the Gartshore Family from a book by Thomas Watson pages 97 to 104. This describes the Gartshore Charter in the time of Alexander II of Scotland. The pages are hard to follow but they do give a run down on the family from around 1211 up to 1814 in the time of Marjory Gartshore the last of the Gartshore's of Gartshore to have the Estate. Page 97 starts of with William Comin or Comyn, Count of Buchan, and has a mention to John, son of Galfred. This has been translated to English but on the page of the Charter you will see some of the text is in Latin and some is in English.

THE ABOVE LINKS WILL GIVE YOU AN IDEA ABOUT THE THOMAS WATSON BOOK AND THE START OF THE GARTSHORE HISTORY.

THE GARTSHORE FAMILY HAVE BEEN CREEPING AROUND SCOTLAND SINCE THE LATE 1100's. THERE ARE VARIOUS DOCUMENTS THAT I HAVE NAMING THEM, SOME ARE IN THE FORM OF SASINES, SOME LETTERS, AND SOME WILLS AND DEEDS. I ALSO HAVE A COPY OF THE GARTSHORE CHARTER DATING BACK TO THE TIME OF KING ALEXANDER THE II. ALL GARTSHORE'S IN THE WORLD ARE RELATED TO ONE ANOTHER, AND CAN EASILY BE TAKEN BACK TO JOHN GARTSHORE OF BLAIRLIN ABOUT 1630. I HAVE DOCUMENTS FROM THIS JOHN TO ALEXANDER GARTSHORE OF GARTSHORE BORROWING MONEY AND IF YOU LOOK AT THE HISTORY YOU WILL SEE AT THAT TIME THE GARTSHORE'S OF GARTSHORE HAD NO JOHN IN THE FAMILY SO A LEAP OF FAITH WOULD SAY HE WAS BORROWING FROM AN UNCLE OR BROTHER THUS TAKING OUR FAMILY BACK TO THE LATE 1100's. WHEN I FIRST STARTED RESEARCHING THE FAMILY I CAME ACROSS A BOOK BY THOMAS WATSON. THERE IS A SECTION ABOUT THE GARTSHORE FAMILY BUT HARD TO WORK OUT WHO WAS WHO. IT TOOK ME MANY YEARS TO FIGURE IT OUT.
